KASHETE PLAINS EXPEDITION and CAMPSITE (KPE) is a serene, eco-conscious retreat set along the edge of the Okavango Eastern Panhandle, a region known for its unspoilt wetlands, deep channels, and remarkable biodiversity. Nestled in the quieter reaches of the plains, this hidden gem offers immersive nature experiences, exceptional birdlife, and eco-friendly comfort. 

ACCOMMODATION 

KASHETE PLAINS EXPEDITION : Tented accommodation and camping grounds are positioned in the shade of the riverine forest, overlooking the river. All tents, some common areas and the camping grounds have terraces that take advantage of the serene 180-degree view of the riverfront lined with fluttering plains grasses visited by an ever- changing array of birds. Served Tented Accommodation 2 x serviced Sahara Deluxe tent – sleeping 2 adults on twin beds: The spacious tent offering basic comfort with linens, towels, mosquito-netted windows and doors, and electricity. Rooms are equipped with tea and coffee-making facilities, a barbecue area with outdoor chairs and access to an outdoor en-suite bathroom consisting of a shower, hand-basin and toilet.

Nestled on the tranquil riverfront of the Kashete Plains, “Kashete Mini Restaurant” draws its name and spirit from the rich cultural heritage of the Hambukushu people. “Kashete”—meaning basket—symbolises natural abundance, a nod to this area's history of harvesting aquatic fruits and diverse fish from the nearby Okavango River. 

Our small, open-air restaurant offers a camper-style buffet dining experience, designed for a minimum of four guests who have pre-booked. We serve set meals crafted from locally sourced ingredients, celebrating the culinary traditions of Botswana with a touch of international flavour. From vibrant salads and seasonal vegetables to savoury meat dishes and indulgent desserts, our buffet caters to a range of tastes and dietary needs, all served in a warm, relaxed atmosphere overlooking the river.
